We all look forward to this time of year, with the holidays on the way and the temperature rising, we’ve put together some tips to help you keep cool this summer.
Put ice in front of your fan
Yes, this may sound weird but it really works. Putting a bowl of ice in front of your fan cools down the air surrounding it as the ice melts, maximising the effects of your fan.
Get a paddling pool
If you don’t live near a beach, or you just don’t feel like leaving the house, fill up a paddling pool and make the backyard into your own pool party.
Keep your pulse points cool
Running cold water over your wrists for around 30 seconds can lower your body temperature by cooling down the bloodstream in your arms and recirculating it to the larger bloodstream. Try doing this before going to bed to help you sleep.
One of the most important things you can do during summer is stay hydrated. Keeping up your fluid intake decreases dehydration and reduces the risk of heatstroke.
Eat the heat
Eating foods with lots of chilli makes you sweat and is one of the ways our bodies work to keep us cool. While you’re getting hot and flustered eating, the sweat evaporates and carries away the heat, which then cools you down. So, get yourself some chillies or hot sauce and enjoy.
